I'm surely speaking for a minority here - and it's important not to offend the majority. So, changing the default to capitals is even better, i.e. makes it easier for me. I intended to replace the accented capitals (sans umlauts) with the "naked" capitals to have more choice for uppercase letters. As I learned my French nearly 30 years ago I always thought you didn't need accented capitals anyway ;-)
Go for it... and I offer to review the manual. (This may be harder to describe than to code.)
