Will it have any of the Pocket PC features that I mentioned? I really like pressing "123" to changes to a another keyboard with numbers and puncuation. I think that's a really nice feature instead of (or in addition to) a popup "123" keyboard.
We are looking into the way to do this and do not know yet whether we will be able to do it. More on this after we have analyzed the problem in more depth.
One major difference with the Pocket PC is that there is no standardization of the DIA (dynamic Input Area) similar to that of Input Methods on the Pocket PC. For five machines having a virtual area (NX80, Garmin, Handera, Tapwave, T3), you have five ways to implement it. To make things worse, there is virtually no documentation available on the internals and most of what we know is obtained by (costly) reverse-engineering, as the companies rarely respond to inquiries by developers.
This is an area where Microsoft has done much better: the documentation is very good, the compatibility perfect, and when you need more information, you get it from a Microsoft engineer in a matter of days. See our Products page: On the Pocket PC side, we no longer list devices but Operating Systems, given the degree of compatibility achieved!
What we do on the Pocket PC is limited only by our skills. On the Palm it is often limited by the information we are able to get.
