To conclude this short presentation of the Line Count facility, of Instant Text Pro, here is a summary of its most important characteristics:
The line count works directly with all versions of MS Word, WordPerfect, Lotus Notes, WordPro, WordPad, and many other applications. For other programs, you first copy the text to be analyzed to the clipboard and the line count can work on the clipboard contents.
This generality means that you do not need to use different line counting programs with different word processors - Instant Text Pro works with all of them in one way or another.
Every aspect of the Line Count facility is fully customizable with easy-to-use dialogs. You can completely specify what you want to count and what the reports should include. Reports are presented in a Rich Text Format (rtf) editor and can be edited easily. You can start with one of the supplied templates and edit it in WordPad to reflect your needs. Then you can specify the use of this customized report in Report Options and immediately see the effect in the Count Report.
You can create a Log of the current report by pressing on the Log button. This saves the current report as an rtf file and creates a record for the current line count in the Journal — the database of line count records.
You can then use the Line Reporter to produce aggregate reports on the line counts by client, by date, and so on. In addition, Journal entries use a tab-delimited format that is supported by all major spreadsheet programs: MS Excel, Lotus 1-2-3, Quattro Pro.
