I'll second the second shift key idea (woah, that came out funny)... My speed is not quite up on the Fitaly yet, I do get bursts of speed on certain words and severe stumbling blocks when I have to look for a 'q' or something relatively obscure like that, but I am sure that will improve over time.

I also like the access that Fitaly gives you to all the extended/special characters.

I find that a combo of Fitaly (when I am in a large-number-of-words entry mode) and Grafitti (for short notes, numbers, and when I can't look at the screen) works out pretty well.
