What Fitaly Users Are Saying... |
Anthony Jameson replies to a comment by Dom Damiani: You don't mention one of the most important differences between the Fitaly keyboard and the built-in one: The way it fits into the many applications that have text-entry fields. Using the built-in keyboard with such applications is usually impractical, because for each field you have to open and close the keyboard, losing the context while you enter text. Fitaly automatically recognizes when the cursor is in a text-entry field, and it pops up automatically (somewhere else on the screen). As a result, it is practical to use it even for entering little bits of text in fields. In situations where you couldn't enter text anyway, it automatically disappears, leaving the full screen in view. On the whole, I find the Fitaly keyboard to be an usually well-designed product that makes working with the PalmPilot more efficient and enjoyable - and that enables us to do things that would otherwise be impractical (like entering detailed notes on meetings). These benefits make it well worthwhile to get used to the novel layout, and $25 is quite a reasonable price to pay for them. Incidentally, I often use the Fitaly to enter text in German. Although you can notice that the distances between taps are greater than with English, the Fitaly is still considerably faster for German than Grafitti. Dr. Anthony Jameson
