It is interesting to see that some people love word prediction, others want their own shortcuts and maybe more than sms speak.

Nate seems to have overlooked the presence of other glossaries such as the sms.glo for writing brb (be right back). We added the sms.glo as a gimmick, and, of course, it would be easy to add yt (you there) :-)
