I'm not a landscape user myself and my car pda holder is setup vertically. It works best that way with the GPS mapping function too. I could change its orientation temporarily but that would be clumsy or a two handed operation. For those that have their device on their dash instead of on their window changing to landscape might block other controls or might not be possible. While not in the car, my only issue would be that I don't really like landscape mode anyway.
As far as Fitaly going to the trouble of making a finger keyboard I suppose there are other keyboards that lend themselves to finger typing better such as Touch Keyboard and Touch Keypad (because it doesn't seem possible to put all the alphabet on the screen with one character per button if they are all big enough for fingers) but I think Fitaly could do it better. For instance with each square there could be 3 characters as on a phone but instead of repeated presses to get the other characters like with the other keyboards Fitaly could reach all characters with one key press using specialized slides.
