It looks like fast text entry is not everyone's priority, and what would change that? Marketing! You are right, Jez.
There is definitely a need for text entry solutions. We are not the only kid on the block!
As a percentage it is probably unlikely that there are all that many people who choose to enter large amounts of data into their machines directly. They probably choose to do that via a pc.
I think there are many of us who want to go mobile and be able to write notes, emails, addresses, etc. and we want to do it fast :-)
But we may be in a minority for the moment. When you look, for instance, for a real Tablet PCs in the stores, you only find them with a hard keyboard attached. You have to go on the Internet to buy real tablets. And look at all the Blackberry users whose priority is not the screen space but the trusted little hardware keyboard.
When you ask people how they write on their Pocket PC or iPhone, the answer often is "I don't do text, I take photos, I use the phone,..."
Of that percentage not everyone will want to put the time into learning a new keyboard layout.
Motivation is key:
You want to drive a car, you take the time to learn it.
You want to be mobile and do some intensive writing on your mobile device, you look for better solutions than the qwerty.
As a product I think it's unbeatable in terms of getting text into a machine using a small footprint. And I've tried loads of methods.
Fitaly's success is and will be due to users like you, -- and to the marketing we do and will continue to do!
Marianne
