Tuning your slides

Thanks a lot for your compliments. :-)

There is one thing I would change, though. When sliding north to access the customizations, I like the fact that in the bottom rows, you have to slide a little further to get to the customizations. But in the top row, the menu appears directly over the letter. Most of the time I will just want to capitalize the letter, and not have to look at the menu items. (For instance, I slide north on h expecting a capital H, and I get 'has'.) If the distance from the key to the expansion menu were a user-selectable option, that would be ideal, in my opinion.

You can achieve this by unchecking the "Slide to choice for north" option. In this case the sliding distance will be used for the display of your slides. If you have multiple slides you will obtain the alternate choices after having reached your sliding distance by sliding a bit further.

I find it confusing that sliding right or left on vowels shows a vertical menu, and continuing to slide left or right moves the selection up and down.

This is the case for multiple slides, due to the little screen estate available the slide preview window can only be positionned at the north of the keyboard. If you find it confusing (it is indeed less intuitive as for the north direction) you should probably define multiple slides only for north and single slides for the other directions.

One other suggestion would be to allow sub-menus of sliding expansions. For instance, I could slide north on 'e' to get 'e-mail addresses', and then if I slid right, a list of e-mail addresses would pop-up. Or, sliding north on the ':' to 'emoticons', which could expand to all kinds of smileys, etc.

Clever idea! Maybe difficult to fit in our current model :-)
Maybe over the top, we don't want to overcomplicate the slide editor.

Emmanuel.
