Experience with backspace by sliding space

Now that it is implemented, I have had some experience using the feature.

Remember that sliding on the letter panel is implemented as an "afterthought": We emit the character at pen down. Later, at pen up, if there is sliding, we backspace and revise the character. So the effect for sliding the space bar is to emit a space and then two backspaces.

I found this useful for quickly erasing an incorrect character as I type. On the other hand, I found it disconcerting for repeated backspaces and I will certainly continue to use the normal backspace key in that case.

An alternative would have been to treat all spaces at pen up but this would penalize speed.

Well, you will soon be able to experiment with the feature. In the mean time, you can try it on the b5 and you will see what I mean: Currently, if you slide a space, you get the space, a backspace, and an upper-case space which is of course indistinguishable from a space :) To see it, put the cursor in the middle of a word and do the slided space.
